Option 1 – Stovetop:
Open the bag and pour the lamb shank and sauce into a pan. Reheat gently over low heat for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lamb is hot all the way through. You may need to add half a ladle of broth or water during reheating to prevent the mixture from drying out or burning.
Option 2 – Water Bath:
Place the sealed bag in a pot of hot water (steaming, just below boiling) and heat for about 20 minutes. The water should be hot enough to keep the food safely above the danger zone — avoid using warm or lukewarm water. Once heated through, open the bag and serve immediately.
Mashed Potatoes (Optional Side)
Method – Simmer in Water (Bag-in-Bag or Vacuum Bag):
Do not open the vacuum bag — keep it sealed.
Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer and submerge the sealed bag. Heat for 10 minutes, moving the bag occasionally for even warming. Once hot, remove and gently massage the bag to mix the contents, then open and serve.
Tips:
If reheated too quickly or at high heat, the butter and milk in the mashed potatoes can separate.
Food Safety Reminder:
Ensure the lamb and any sides are fully hot before serving. Do not let the food sit for too long at room temperature or in water that’s not hot enough, as this can lead to unsafe conditions. Reheat and enjoy immediately.
